Digital Billboards

Leading up to our July 3rd Holiday Fireworks, we rented space on various billboards across Des Moines. The contract lasted several weeks and extended past our fireworks. I was tasked with creating designs to showcase on the screens, highlighting our holiday fireworks, as well as our ballpark. The Billboards were a large success, and the team saw extra ticket sales during the time the designs were displayed. This project was very fulfilling. This was the largest I have ever seen my art, and it brings me great joy to see my work out in the world.

Peanuts Day

This season on August 24th, the Iowa Cubs held Peanuts Day, a themed game with specialty jerseys, graphics, and audio. I took on the project of creating Peanuts characters for each member of our home team, the visiting Sugar Land Space Cowboys, and our front office staff, to use for our video board headshots, starting lineups, and other various uses. The project was a large undertaking, and the results were very satisfying to see. Seeing player and staff reactions to their own character was a highlight for me this season.

Spring into Summer Concert Series

At the ballpark, our sales team works hard to host events outside of baseball. A 2 day concert series was created, and the branding for the event was handed over to me. In collaboration with our lead designer, I went through several rounds of discussion and editing for the primary logo mark, and I am thrilled with the final version of the logo. The event went very well, and the branding was used across the park, on social media, in email campaigns, as well as other digital and print media for promotion.

Theme Night Graphic Packages

During the course of the Iowa Cubs Season, we have several theme nights that feature specialty jerseys that will be worn on the field. To promote and highlight these nights, I was tasked with creating sets of graphics in various dimensions to go out across all of our digital platforms as well as print versions. The theme nights are special for our fans, as they are able to show their love of our team, as well as other special interests they have including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Margaritaville, and The Peanuts.

Outside Promotional Video Board

Outside of Principal Park, as drivers pass our stadium, there is a video board that plays a loop of graphics promoting different events and games. I have had the opportunity to work on many of these promotions that are seen each day by thousands of eyes as they drive through Des Moines. Below are a few of the graphics I have been able to complete for Principal Park's 'Triangle Board'

Homestand Program Covers

Each homestand, our media relations, graphic design, and marketing departments collaborate on a program cover for fans available both digitally and in print. The cover of the program features simple typography, the Iowa Cubs logo, and a unique image. The images do not feature our players in action. They feature shots of our ballpark, grounds crew employees hard at work, and other baseball items. They are meant to be aesthetically pleasing images that really represent our beautiful sport. I feel that the covers compliment each other well.
